Issue #036: Amazon Prime Day is a MASSIVE scam

🤑Hey everyone,
Amazon prime day was yesterday, and upon a out 30 seconds of scrolling, I could already tell that most of the ‘sales’ prices were full of sh*t.
Like most sales, there were lots of prices crossed out, red boxes flashing, and a limited time scale to put you under pressure to make a purchase.
Before you ask - yes, I did buy something, but before I did, I created a 5 part system that ensured I was ACTUALLY getting a ridiculously good price.
Shall I share it with you?
yeh go on then mate…
IGNORE THE PRICE CROSSED OUT
In fact, ignore the price that’s listed. The one that’s crossed out is completely irrelevant. Plenty of brands inflate the RRP just so that they can cross it out and put an item back to it’s normal price to look like a sale. However, let’s say for a second that the brands are honest and it’s actually a discount, this is how to find out whether it’s a good one, or one that you could literally get 50 other times a year!
You’re gonna do 1 of 2 things:
Download the Keepa chrome extension that gives you a graph of the price history of the item you want on amazon
Just copy and paste the amazon URL into camelcamelcamel.com for the same results
That’s exactly what I did on the item below to realise that this wasn’t actually a one off ‘sale’ price, they just hiked up the price for a month before the sale.

Get Amazon Prime for HALF PRICE
A lot of you guys might not even have had the chance to apply this 5 step process because you don’t pay for prime. But don’t worry, I’ve got something for you as well. Amazon Prime actually allows you to split your membership with another adult under the title Amazon Prime Household. Just give it a google and thank me later
Amazon isn’t the cheapest place
No, I’m not gonna get you to start shopping on Temu. But trust me on this, Amazon might be freaking convenient, but the prices aren’t always the cheapest (Definitely just gave someone a mini heart attack there). So, when you do find an item you want to buy, quickly look it up on pricespy.co.uk and in second you will have your answer!
Use a credit card please
For those of you that have credit cards, amazon prime day is literally the prime day to use it (if you pardon the pun). You see, credit cards have a little something called section 75, meaning that if the product turns up faulty, damaged or doesn’t even turn up, (and it cost between £100 - £30,000), then your credit card will pay you back for it. This is super handy for those half confident purchases you made from amazon sellers you’re not so sure about.

The GOLDEN sales rule
I end today’s newsletter with a quote from the holy Martin Lewis:
“If you were going to buy it, and now you’ve found it for 50% off, well done - you just saved half your money. However, if you’re only buying something because it’s 50% off, you’ve just wasted all your money.”
That man never fails to impress
